CLI reference

Every command, flag and exit code of pooled, the command that serves a room as a local OpenAI and Anthropic endpoint.

pooled is the command-line bridge from the @pooled/cli npm package. Its command is serve. For setup, see Serve API.

Node 22 or newer. No GPU needed.

npx @pooled/cli serve 4TKG9P
pooled serve <ROOM CODE | room link> [options]
pooled --version
pooled --help

The room is a code (six characters like 4TK-G9P, the dash optional; older rooms have four) or a room link. With the host’s invite link, which carries #k=…, the host lets the bridge in at once; quote it in the shell. With the code alone, the bridge waits until the host presses Allow.

Flag Default What it does
--port <n> 8080 HTTP port on 127.0.0.1. 0 picks a free port and the banner prints it.
--token-file <f> none Require the token in this file on every request.
--token <t> none The same, on the command line. Other users can read it with ps.
--name <s> pooled serve + 4 random letters How the room shows this client, up to 40 characters.
--signal <host:port> PeerJS cloud Signaling server, the same one as the room page’s ?signal=. One host:port only; the connection is secure only on port 443.
--max-queue <n> 8 Requests that may wait behind the running one before 429 / 529. 0 accepts one only when idle.
--quiet off Print only errors.
--json-log off One JSON object per log line: {t, level, msg}.
-v, --version Print the version.
-h, --help Print the help.

The POOLED_TOKEN environment variable also sets the token. See Tokens and security.

Code When
0 --version, --help, no arguments, or a clean stop with Ctrl-C or SIGTERM.
1 Node older than 22, the port is busy, or joining the room failed (no such room within 15 s, the signaling server unreachable, the host turned it away).
2 Bad arguments: unknown command or flag, a missing or malformed room code, a bad --port or --max-queue, an empty or unreadable token. pooled serve --help also exits 2.

On Ctrl-C, open requests end with an error and the client leaves the room. A second Ctrl-C exits at once.

pooled --version prints the version you have; npx @pooled/cli@latest runs the newest. From 0.4.0, pooled host and pooled join take --ram, which lets a discrete GPU keep a MoE model’s experts in system RAM (MoE experts in system RAM), and pooled pull / pooled host list the Qwen3.5 122B MoE. See the changelog.
