Getting started
Invite devices
Add a phone, a second laptop or a friend's desktop to your room with a link, a QR code or the room code.
Every device you add brings more memory, so the room can run a bigger model.
-
In the room, press Invite in the header.
The Invite a device sheet shows a QR code, the room code (like
4TK-G9P) and a Copy link button. -
Open it on the other device.
Open the link, or scan the QR code with the phone’s camera. The device joins by itself.
Open pooled.run/room, type the code under Have a code? and press Join. The dash is optional. The device then waits for you to let it in.
-
Let it in, if asked.
A device that typed the code shows up as a prompt like
otter wants to join (Mac, 8 GB). Press Allow or Deny.
The new device’s memory is added to the room. Check the header for how many GB the room pools, then pick a model.
Who gets in
Section titled “Who gets in”- Your invite link or QR code lets a device in at once. It carries a key that only the room’s creator shares.
- The code alone needs your OK. Denied devices see
The host didn't let this device in. - A device you let in comes back after a reload without asking again.
- Your prompt shows a six-digit code, and so does the joining device’s waiting screen. If they match, nobody sits between the two devices. See Security model.
To let anyone with the code in, turn off Room settings → Joining → Ask before new devices join.
Set how much a device gives
Section titled “Set how much a device gives”Each device sets its share under Memory on the join screen, or This device gives in the room. Phones can give only a little. See Phones and tablets.
A device without WebGPU joins as Chat only, no memory to give. It can still ask and read answers.
If a device can’t join
Section titled “If a device can’t join”| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
Still connecting… |
Wait a few more seconds. |
No room with that code. |
Check the code, and that the room’s creator still has the page open. |
Found the room, but these two devices can't reach each other |
Put both devices on the same Wi-Fi or try another network. See Networks and work Wi-Fi. |

Details
Section titled “Details”- Room codes never use I, L, O, U, 0 or 1, so they are hard to misread. Rooms opened before six-character codes keep their four.
- The invite link looks like
https://pooled.run/r/4TKG9P#k=…. The part after#never goes to a server. A link copied on another device in the room has no key, so it gets the same prompt as the code. - Not every device gets layers. By default the fastest devices run the model and the rest join to ask. See How layers are split.
- If a device that holds layers leaves, the room deals its layers out to the others. See Device drops and recovery.
